Playing Catch Up

For those of you who would go into some sort of epileptic shock if you saw my humiliation that I call "My first blog page". I'm including a post about my adorable family. 4 boys of whom I have tremendous crushes upon, 1 husband who I'm willingly wrapped around his finger and a darling dainty flower who, at times, is not so dainty.

Let me start by saying this: I believe I'm getting old. I will be turning 40 in September and my "Mortality Moments" (moments that make you look very hard at your life and critique yourself) are becoming more frequent and more life altering. It seems just a few years ago that I was running around the back field in Alpine, playing in the tree fort and eating Patowatomee plums. Wierd to think this was over 30 years ago.

We are all well and happy here. Tom is EQ President and has his work cut out for him. He is focusing on activation as we have over 100 elders in our ward and about 20 are active. He has the assurance that he will have work while he is in the EQ calling, which is a blessing. Speaking of work, work is going. Pocatello is somewhat shielded from the depression that is going on. We have a new company "HOKU Scientific" that will be starting up within the next year or so. They are advertising about 200 well paying jobs. I personally have hopes that Tom will get on with them. But it's hard to give up doing something that you love to do. And that's were my Sweetheart is at.

I'm doing well. I'm the Building Librarian for our building, one of the few callings I've ever aspired to have. I've discovered that "Mild Mannered Librarians" don't exist. At least in our building. It can be quite a hornet's nest at times. I'm finishing up inventory here in this building. Then in two weeks, the 52nd ward, will be moving to a brand new building where everything is new. I'm very happy about that.

Riley (11) "wants more freedom". Translation: doesn't want to do his chores. I laugh, snuggle with him and ask, "So! How soon do you want that freedom?! If you work fast you can have it in 15 minutes." He usually grumbles a bit more, then gets it done. He is turning from a cute little kid into a charming pre-teen.

Nathan (9) is on a quest this summer to write a chapter book about "MasTatik". He has decided that his new character will be a baby commander in charge of a "baby squad" of 6 "really highly trained babies". They will be trained by Sam, a battle trike commander and an ex-ninja.

Are you following this?

MasTatik is hunting another commander, Aliuk, who destroyed Doggie Doo Doo Land Planet over 10 trillion years ago and is now trying to destroy Earth. MasTatik can do amazing things, he can make "MasTatik-electricity", is strong and stands between evil guys and the innocent. It will be an interesting saga to say the least.

Timothy (6) is the first of the Davis boyz to have stitches of any kind. We still don't know exactly what happened, da boyz seem to be covering for each other, but it included a "jumping off platform", "black church curtains", and a "corner wall"

It was probably pretty fun untill....yyyeaaah.

Eric (3) is still the proverbial "Bull in a china shop". But he's a cute bull.

Ariana (2) is now going through a "Girly" phase if you can believe it. She went to the store with me and she had on this very loud, pink onesy with a purple and green, saturated hued flower on it. She slipped on her shiney red Sunday shoes, slapped on her multi colored striped sun hat and grabbed her "Barney Purple" purse...she was so pleased to have gotten ready all by herself...she looked like a clown. (sigh).

Well, that's what's happening here in our neck of the woods. I wish you all lived closer so we could have some adventures together.

  1. I love your description of your family. I can't believe Riley and Nathan are 11 and 9. It has been a really long time since we have seen you guys.

  2. I'm loving Nathan's story! lol

Oh, and last week, Rori insisted on wearing a horse costume while we ran our errands. I was "picking my battles" and that was just not one of them, so I let her. I received many empathetic looks that day, as if to say, "Yeah, I've been there, done that." lol
